Season 3: Episode 4: "I Am Become Death"

"I Am Become Death"

Heroes starts off with Suresh performing chemistry experiments based on his latest findings. He overhears a domestic altercation between a man and woman in a nearby apartment. Suresh goes to ask if everything's alright, and he ends up using his strength to pound the man's face in the wall/door. The man uses a racial slur and tells Suresh to leave. The woman screams for Suresh to leave.

Tracy Strauss visits with the scientist who informs her about her past. He tells her she is one of triplets and her parents had her tested with DNA Manipulation. Tracy asks who wanted the experiments done and the man said it was done by a "Company" but they made him forget about it. Tracy asks him to take away her power and he says he can't take it away now since it's a part of her. Tracy gets angry and grabs the man's arms, almost freezing him to death.

Matt Parkman is in Africa where he continues to look over the painting of him holding a dead woman in his arms. Matt's new friend/mentor places his headphones on Matt's head. Matt's eyes gloss over with a white color and Matt begins to see the future.

We're taken four years into the future, with Future Peter and Present Day Peter. FP shows Peter NYC where people have abilities, due to the fact an injection is available for a price. People are flying around and running fast down the street. FP tells him that people can't be trusted because they're weak, and now they're causing all kinds of problems now, such as an earthquake in Australia. FP tells him that the people he knew back in time aren't what they seemed because some were born with powers and others were "made". All of a sudden, shots ring out and Claire Bennet is shown in all black with a gun. She shoots down Future Peter and the other Peter takes off running as she continues firing shots. The Haitian appears and goes to try to stop Claire but she knocks him out.

Claire convenes with a blonde, Daphne and Knox in the future as they look at Peter (future version) dead on a table. Claire tells them the real Peter is still alive and they need to kill him. Claire tells Daphne they need to ask Molly to locate him.

Hiro and Ando are shown in a holding cell at the Company, Level 2. Ando tells Hiro to just use his power to save himself. The two get into a min-argument with Ando bringing up the fact that he thinks Hiro's upset over seeing Ando kill him in the future. Hiro quips that he can see why he might do so.

Nathan Petrelli is at his new office, where he continues to see the Linderman visual. Linderman tells him which desk to pick out, when a staff member comes in to ask. Nathan chooses the other choice. After the man leaves, Linderman explains that he's here to help Nathan on the "path to salvation". Nathan says its not his path if Linderman's leading the way.

Peter visits Gabriel Gray in the future, aka "Sylar", who now has a son named Noah. Gabriel recognizes that Peter doesn't have his scar, meaning he's from the past, then tells him they are brothers. Peter says he needs Sylar's ability in order to save the world. Sylar says he can't help him, but Peter hands him a paintbrush from the little boy's room they're in. Sylar's eyes gloss over as he starts painting.

Matt Parkman and Daphne are shown with a baby four years in the future. Daphne tells Matt they need to have Molly find Peter Petrelli so they can stop him. Matt asks Molly to help locate Peter, and they determine he's in Costa Verde. Daphne reports to Claire and Knox about the whereabouts. Knox senses that Claire's afraid and she admits to it, saying she has to kill her uncle, again. Knox reminds her that she can't die, but he and Daphne can.

Sylar recreates a painted image like the ones seen near Suresh and Matt Parkman in Africa. He then hands Peter his broken watch with the "Sylar" name on it. He tells Peter to get his ability he needs to fix the watch and understand its complexities, then he will be able to change the future. Peter uses his powers and is able to fix the watch gears, making it work. Sylar tells him he now has his ability, and he's sorry. All of a sudden Knox shouts something from the other room. He, Claire, and Daphne are in the home and are holding Sylar's son Noah at gunpoint. Claire points the gun towards Noah and says it's either the boy or Peter. Claire tells Peter he took everything from her. Peter says he's not the same as the guy she shot earlier.

Peter makes a quick move and is able to knock Claire down, since she has the gun. Daphne blasts forward in a burst of speed taking Peter with her through a wall. In the room she uses her speed to repeatedly run up to and punch Peter. Meanwhile, Sylar and Knox do battle. Sylar tells Knox he's not afraid of him. Knox tells Sylar his son Noah is, and then tosses Sylar through a table. The table breaks and in the melee, ends up killing Gabriel's son, Noah. Sylar becomes enraged and in his angry state, goes nuclear, wiping out the entire house and surrounding Costa Verde area in a mushroom cloud.

We're back to present day with Hiro trying to escape from Level 2 of the Company. He and Ando argue again, but Ando finally assists him in climbing up to a vent they were able to pry open. Just as Hiro is struggling to get into the vent, the Haitian appears in their cell looking right at Ando.

Tracy Strauss tries to phone in a confession to the police for killing reporter Jim Mcann, the guy who asked her (Nikki/Jessica's) about her romp with Nathan Petrelli. She becomes upset while holding the phone receiver and ends up freezing it to the point it doesn't work, and she is unable to deliver her confession.

Suresh continues experimenting looking for a cure or formula to remove abilities, but believes he can't do it. He finds more side effects as his hands are emitting a sticky substance on a table. The man who Suresh confronted earlier about a possible domestic violence, shows up at his apartment, and punches Suresh. Suresh yanks him into the apartment and closes the door.

Tracy gives her resignation notice to Nathan Petrelli, saying she knows what she has to do now, then leaves his office. Mr. Linderman shows up again talking to Nathan, saying he must go help Tracy, and to trust him in this.

Tracy goes up onto a bridge to commit suicide. Right as she jumps, Nathan flies in and catches her to stop her, then flies off with Tracy in his arms. The two rendezvous in an apartment for a drink. Tracy shows Nathan her power by freezing the glass he's holding. Tracy and Nathan embrace.

Four years in the future, President Nathan Petrelli is shown delivering a press conference regarding the explosion. At his side is his first lady, Tracy Strauss. Nathan encourages them all to pray together as a family and a nation.

In a secluded morgue style room, dead Peter Petrelli is lying on a table next to present day Peter. Future Peter is dead, while present Peter begins to move. Claire Bennet enters the room, and tells Peter teleporting out won't work. The Haitian is standing in the room, blocking his powers. Claire tells Peter she wants him to feel the pain of the hundreds of thousands of deaths he caused in Costa Verde. Peter tells her he can change how things are. Claire uses a scalpel and cuts Peter twice, before President Nathan Petrelli enters and tells her to stop.

Nathan unties the bindings on Peter, then tells him the Congress approved for Congress to go after anyone with abilities causing trouble, due to what Peter did in Costa Verde. Peter tells Nathan he knows he's been manipulated by Linderman before. Nathan tells Peter to read his mind then, and Peter starts trying to read Nathan's mind. Nathan cries out that Peter's hurting him. Peter unleashes the worst of the power he got from Gabriel Gray, and points his finger at Nathan's forehead. Nathan's forehead is cut open as Peter kills him "trying to understand his intentions". Peter teleports out of the room as security is heard rushing to the president's aid.

Back to present day, in Level 5 with Sylar. Peter teleports in and throws Sylar against the wall. He tells him about how the world gets brutally destroyed in the future. He also says he got Sylar's ability and hunger but he's not like him. Sylar tells Peter "you already are, brother".

Matt Parkman continues to dream of the future, with he and his wife Daphne watching news of the Costa Verde explosion. Parkman tells Molly to go get Daniella, her sister. A knock comes at the door, Daphne is there and tells Matt she wasn't fast enough. Her back is burned up from the Costa Verde explosion and she falls into Matt's arms. Matt wakes up from dreaming the future to find that all of the paintings are real, and felt real. Matt says he needs to find Daphne. The man with him tells Matt to find his totem, which will lead him on his journey. The man says the totem is usually an animal, so Matt must think of his dream to find his guide. Matt sees a turtle and begins to follow the slow creature as it starts walking.

Mrs. Petrelli talks to Hiro and Ando about how they have lost both parts of "The Formula". Ando asks why it's important and she says because it turns ordinary people like Ando into extraordinary people with abilities. Ando speaks up for Hiro saying he will not stop until the formula is recovered. Mrs. Petrelli says someone unseen and powerful is manipulating them all. Hiro says he'll stop them. Mrs. Petrelli says he's the only who can, because he has the key to the myster. Next we see Hiro and Ando at a grave site, digging deep. They dig up Adam Monroe aka Takezo Kenzei, who Hiro buried alive. Adam grabs Hiro around the throat yelling at him as the episode ends.
