Sopranos Receives Best Drama

Heroes was nominated for best drama series after its first full season. However, the mob was too strong for the humans with extraordinary abilities, and "The Sopranos" took home the night's final award. The award can be seen as a tribute to the popular HBO series, which saw its final season this year. On the stage a member of the cast spoke about "the world being run by gangsters".

HBO programs won a grand total of 21 primetime Emmys, including "Outstanding Drama Series," "Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series" and "Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series" for the organized crime and family drama. "Entourage" and "Extras" also won significant awards.

Masi Oka of Heroes was a nominee in the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series but lost to Terry O’Quinn for his performance as intense castaway John Locke on ABC’s Lost.

Other winners on the Emmy's: "Ugly Betty" star, . "My Name is Earl" star Jamie Pressly and Jeremy Piven from HBO's "Entourage".
