Season 3: Episode 10: "The Eclipse Part 1"

The episode opens with Suresh's narration of the moment when a battle can change us and we usually can't do much to prepare for it. Pencil shaded sketches are shown on white paper, which appear to show various heroes. One sketch appears to show Nathan kissing Tracy and another shows HRG holding a bleeding Claire in his arms. The scene shows Arthur Petrelli sketching on a large white pad of paper. Angela Petrelli is shown looking a picture of her family. Hiro and Ando are shown looking over the comic book with the eclipse in it.

Sylar meets with Elle and says he needs to learn to use her electricity power better. Arthur Petrelli bursts in and orders Gabriel to go bring Claire Bennet back. Gabriel accepts the mission and Elle adds that she should go along to help him, since she used to be with The Company. Arthur agrees to the pair going out to find Claire.

Angela Bennet walks through Primatech with Claire, telling her she has a plan. Nathan is going to find the Haitian, Matt Parkman will find Hiro Nakamura, and Claire must stay hidden underground. They arrive to the cell block where Doyle the Puppetmaster, and another villain are being held. Angela Bennet says she won't lock Claire up, she has a different plan. HRG walks in and smiles at Claire as they reunite.

Nathan and Peter are outside Primatech where Nathan says he needs to fly off and find the Haitian. Peter pleads with him to take him along. Nathan says even without powers Peter still has purpose, and eventually agrees to take him. The two rocket off into the sky together.

Suresh is performing an autopsy on the test patient who died under his experimentation at Pinehearst. He pulls off his bloody rubber glove to notice more lesions and deformities on his hand. Suresh rushes out to tell Arthur he needs the catalyst now. Arthur shows him the sketch of Claire dead in HRG's arms, saying all their plans might be for nothing. He asks Suresh to use his science skills to ask how this will happen. Suresh puts the various sketches around the picture of the eclipse, saying he doesn't know what it means, but if Claire dies, he can't be cured. Arthur shows him another sketch, of Suresh severaly mutated and dying. Arthur says everything is going to change today.

Daphne is nervous about the plan Angela Bennet has set in motion and communicates it to Matt Parkman. Matt says he must find Hiro per Angela's orders. Daphne says she's scared of Arthur Petrelli since he can take powers or kill them. Matt says he won't let anything happen to them. A knock comes at the door. Matt and Daphne open the door to find Ando and Hiro, comic book in hand. Matt asks what it says, and Ando tells him he must fix Hiro who thinks he's only 10 years old.

HRG takes Claire to stay safe at Stephen Canfield's house. Claire has an attitude with HRG, and he says he must keep her safe, not just the catalyst.

Matt tries to go inside Hiro's head but he's thinking in Japanese. Matt says Hiro can still time travel and teleport, but he just believes he's a child. Daphne says she has to leave, telling Matt he paused earlier when she asked if he trusted her. Matt went inside Daphne's mind and pulled out "Lawrence, KS", asking if that's her home. Daphne speeds off.

Gabriel and Elle discuss having to capture Claire with HRG around. The pair are at a car rental place, but the clerk isn't showing at the desk. Gabriel rings the bell again asking where the guy is. Elle says she told him that a serial killer kidnapped her, so he's probably calling the police. When Gabriel finds out she's serious, he tells her they have to leave. The clerk comes out, rifle in hand, telling Gabriel to let the girl go. Elle rushes over to the man pretending he saved her. As the man points the gun at Sylar, Elle taunts him to bring out his instinct or hunger. The man hits Sylar in the face with the butt of the gun, causing a scar, which immediately heals. Sylar says he "hates heroes" as he gets a mean look in his eyes.

Suresh continues getting sicker by the minute, with sticky substance emitting from his hands. He records in a tape recorder questioning how the eclipse relates to their abilities. He says he's changing and can't control it.

Inside the safe house, HRG puts Claire through a training exercise, handing her a piece of wood. HRG gets Claire mad by insulting her ability to catch bad guys. He asks Claire to hit him, and as her anger grows she takes a swing. HRG reacts quickly and restrains Claire, telling her to try again.

Tracy talks to Arthur on the phone. Arthur tells her to go to Paris Island to talk to her connections, so Nathan will "see the world for what it really is". Tracy says she won't take orders from him, but Arthur says if she wants Nathan to get into the White House, she will do as told. As Tracy hangs up the call, Angela Petrelli is there. Tracy quips "no rest for the wicked" and Angela responds "obviously not" with a smile.

Matt tells Ando he needs Hiro to teleport him to Lawrence, Kansas to find out what's going on with Daphne. Ando says it's more important to get Hiro back to normal, but Matt says it'll take just a minute to go to Kansas. Hiro notices them in a cornfield in the 9th Wonders comic book he has. Ando tells Hiro in Japanese to teleport them, and he does so excitedly. They arrive in the cornfield at Daphne's house. Matt says he can hear her thoughts, since she's inside. All of a sudden, Ando notices the eclipse start above them, causing Matt and Hiro to look up.

Various scenes are shown, including Suresh in a cocoon, Angela viewing her family photo, the sketches drawn by Arthur Petrelli, and Nathan/Peter falling from the sky into water. Gabriel and Elle speed off in a convertible from the rental spot. HRG continues training Claire, and a shot is shown again of the sketch of HRG holding a bleeding, dead Claire in his arms.

Suresh is shown in a coccoon of the sticky substance up against a wall. All of a sudden he falls out of it to the ground and gets up. Meanwhile, Nathan and Peter brush themselves off after falling into a swamp water. Nathan mentions he's lost his ability to fly. Peter notes there was an eclipse when Nathan first learned he could fly. They start walking and find little dolls up against bamboo or trees. Peter says they are symbolic of prayers for salvation and redemption. Peter says the Haitian's village is one way, Nathan says its the opposite way. Peter tries to argue, then follows.

Over in Kansas, Matt Parkman knocks at the house Daphne's inside. An older man answers saying Daphne's not home. Matt tries to use his mind powers to persuade the man to let him in, but finds his abilities are gone. The man calls Matt strange then shuts the door on him. Hiro and Matt both notice their powers are gone. Inside the house, the man goes to Daphne who's sitting on a bed in a room. He tries to ask her who the guy was at the door, but Daphne says she doesn't want to say anything. She tells him "it's happening again", to which the man says he's sorry. Daphne asks him to go get something for her.

Nathan and Peter wind up on the edge of a cliff, and Peter gets mad at Nathan for not listening to him before. The two argue, with Nathan saying he always saves Peter. Peter tells Nathan he's a puppet, and in the future he chooses their father over Peter. Nathan says he's there now and asks Peter for his help. As Nathan turns, the Haitian's there and signals that they keep quiet.

HRG continues to train Claire as she swings away with a piece of wood to perfect her strength and swing. Claire's frustrated and tired. HRG tells her to swing at him and hit him, taunting her. She keeps trying with HRG avoiding it. As Claire gets more angry she lets out her anger towards HRG and strikes him in the leg. HRG falls to one knee and Claire says she needs to go out for fresh air. As Claire's walking to the door, it swings open and Elle's there. She goes to shoot electricity from her hand but it fails to work. She asks HRG if the Haitian's there, and he says no then draws his gun.

As HRG backs up with Claire, Sylar's standing behind them. Sylar tries to use telekinesis but it fails as well. A brawl ensues between HRG and Sylar on the ground, with HRG beating up Sylar and dislocating his arm/shoulder. Claire hides in a corner. Elle has grabbed HRG's gun and is about to shoot HRG. Claire gets up and runs in front of the bullet to stop it from hitting HRG. An enraged HRG swings a piece of wood and knocks Elle to the floor. Elle and Sylar are on the ground as HRG carries a bleeding Claire out the front door, looking just like Arthur Petrelli's prophetic sketch.

HRG rushes Claire home to Sandra who helps him attend to Claire's bloody shoulder. Claire tells HRG she's in pain and never thought she'd feel it again, but it's wonderful to feel normal. HRG thanks Claire for saving his life by taking a bullet.

Hiro, Ando and Matt meet out in the cornfield. Matt asks how he can save Daphne without his abilities. Hiro begins to throw corn stalks and corn at Matt, saying he must not doubt his mission. Ando trasnlates Hiro for Matt saying "the corn will keep coming, only you have the power to stop it". Eventually Matt catches one of the pieces of corn in the air and Hiro is pleased. Matt walks off to go save Daphne. Hiro tells Ando they will go find a way to get their abilities back, but they must find a place in Kansas where all the wise men meet.

Suresh is in the lab and notices all effects of the formula have disappeared. Suresh types into a computer to find Maya's address and prepares to go find her. Arthur enters with Flint and tells Suresh he needs to stay there and find out how to get all the abilities back. Flint roughs Suresh up saying he needs his abilities back so he can be somebody again.

Hiro and Ando enter a Sam's Comics store in Lawrence, Kansas. Hiro tells Ando to go ask for the latest issue, since it's new comic day. The two guys working at the store hold up the latest issue which shows them in the comic store looking at Hiro and Ando saying "This is so Awesome". Hiro says now they will find out all the answers they need.

The Haitian leads Peter and Nathan through the thick jungle. Nathan says they need to bring him back home, and tells him that Arthur's still alive, surprising the Haitian. Haitian says he can't go anywhere until he stops his brother. Peter mentions it's the escaped villain from Level 5 he read a file on. Peter tells Nathan they should try to help The Haitian, to get his cooperation. All of a sudden gunfire breaks out, and soldiers are rushing at them with guns in hand. Haitian and Peter escape but Nathan doesn't. The head soldier says Arthur Petrelli warned him that Nathan would come, and he told him to be himself. The leader knocks Nathan down with his gun and has his men take him away. Peter tries to go save him, but Haitian stops him. As they look up, the eclipse is still going on.

HRG checks on Claire and says she has no fever. Claire says she's fine considering the circumstances. HRG prepares to leave but Sandra tells him to stay because Claire is scared and needs him. HRG says there's something he has to finish, and leaves.

The older man finally drives off away from the house, and Parkman rushes to the door. He yells to Daphne he won't leave until she talks to him. Matt tells Daphne he's in love with her and will never give up. Daphne says the door's open. As Parkman goes in, he asks where she is. Daphne says she didn't want Matt to see her like this, and walks out revealing she's using crutches and has leg braces.

Sandra goes to bring a tray of food to Claire in her room and drops the tray in shock. She finds Claire in bed with massive blood loss from her shoulder, and checks to see if Claire's alive still.

Back at the house where the fight went down, Elle helps Sylar set his shoulder back in the socket. Sylar screams out in pain. Sylar tries to use his telekinesis but finds it doesn't work. Elle asks what's going on and Sylar says they're just human now. Sylar says he's relieved. Elle tells Sylar they can't take what they want anymore. Sylar asks "says who?" and begins to kiss Elle passionately. As they are kissing, the scene shifts to across from the window of the house. HRG is in position with a sniper rifle ready to fire.
